Locality: Wushan Spessartine Mine, Tongbei, Yunxiao Co., Zhangzhou Prefecture, Fujian Province, China
Druse with Spheroidal aggregates of very well defined Trapezohedral Spessartine Garnet crystals. On a very thin layer of feldspar matrix, they are between translucent and transparent, very gemmy and have a very intense and uniform reddish-orange color. This kind of Spessartine is quickly disappearing from the mineral market.
The first specimens of Chinese garnet associated with smoky quartz and feldspar appeared on the market in 1998. After many years of plentiful specimens, this locality has pretty much been depleted and had been shut down by the Chinese government many years ago. World-class specimens from this locality are now one of the most sort after pieces in the world.
