Collector’s Piece: Gypsum on Calcite from Qinglong Mine, China
Dimension: 9cm x 6.4cm x 3.5cm
Weight: 131g
Locality: Qinglong Mine (Dachang Mine), Dachang Sb ore field, Qinglong County, Qianxinan, Guizhou, China
Discovered from a small pocket find at Qinglong Mine in November 2020 and only a handful of these was found. Exceedingly vitreous, divergent sprays of Dogtooth Calcite crystals due to Gypsum coating are rare and one-of-a-kind. Associated with bladed tabular crystals of Gypsum, these robust red colored Calcite crystals display perfect terminations. The contrast between the Calcite and Gypsum is visually appealing, so beautiful! Such association was found in scarcity, few specimens featured complex growth and combinations like this, and had all mineral species in good color and quality. Comes with a high quality copper-wired display stand.
